Item #60541 : Original period publication. HB, General W.H.Carter USA, 3rd Edition, published in 1906. Previous editions published as a Captain and Lt. Colonel. 405 pages with glossary, English text, photos and drawings. Normal age and wear, scuffing to the cover, pages are sound. West Point class of 1873, 8th US Infantry, saw service in Arizona in 1874, being stationed at Fort McDowell. Transferring to the 6th, and later 5th Cavalry, he saw service at Fort Verde until May 1875. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for rescuing two soldiers at Cibecue Creek in 1881. He retired in 1915, but was recalled for service during WWI and awarded the Distinguished Service Medal. He died in 1925 and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
