US, Navy Hero John Paul Jones Bronze Table Medal

Item #47787 : Original era manufacture. A fine quality bronze table medal, honoring the memory of one of the US Navy's greatest heroes. When asked if he wished to surrender his ship, the USS Bonhomme Richard, by the captain of the British warship Serapis, he replied, " I have not yet begun to fight"; or so the legend goes.Regardless of the quotes accuracy, some sources record a bit more stilted reply, but with the same intent; he served the infant United States Navy and America well, and is honored by being buried in a marble and bronze sarcophagus at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. The bronze medallion measures 55 mm in width with Latin inscriptions.

Price: $65.00
