Original era manufacture. British pattern tan canvas gasmask bag which is Broad Arrow proofed under the flap. On the reverse is the handwritten identification for Private Lawrence Nelson, 117th Inf, 30th Div. The 30th Division, Old Hickory, arrived in France in May of 1918 and was assigned to the American 2nd Corps which was serving with the British Army. In June of that year the 30th Division underwent extensive training under British supervision and received many articles of British equipment. During the course of the 30th's service in France it suffered the loss of over 8,000 casualties. Normal age and wear, no damage.
