Original era manufacture. Service issue quality short sword which reuses a M1869 Werder bayonet blade and scabbard with a cast lion head hilt. The blade spine displays a crown L (Ludwig) proof and year date of 92, Alcoso makers mark on the ricasso. The blade shows evidence of old sharpening with some scattered areas of graying and cleaned corrosion. Overall it remains quite bright. One piece cast brass hilt with a unit mark on the guard, 3.A.5.12 (3rd Bavarian Artillery Rgt, 5th Battery, twelfth weapon). Sound black leather bodied scabbard with brass chape and throat. Heavy denting to the scabbard tip.
