Original era manufacture. Pliable, black bridle leather strap with a cast brass adjusting buckle and strap tip. Unmarked, all steel construction snap hook and swivel roller, which I believe to be original period manufacture. I remember back in the mid 1970's when we were beginning to form our mounted living history unit, original Civil War steel carbine snap hooks & swivels were readily available from companies like Dixie Gun Works, S&S Firearms and others. Generally these were T.J.Shepherd marked, but not always. The leather sling straps and brass buckles were another matter, even if affordable and available, the leather would soon be destroyed through use. The set shows wear and age but very sound for display.
