Original period manufacture. Bright finished steel blade showingscattered staining from age. Hairline fracture in the left side grip plate, dark steel patina to the guard and pommel. Rough hewn wood grips in generally good repair inspite of the small crack. The blade has not been overly cleaned or buffed, traces of a very light sharpening attempt can be seen, overall it just shows its age. First pattern leather scabbard which has had its Krag type hanger removed. Perhaps it was in the line-up for the modification for the 1910 belt hook to be installed. Leather surface shows scuffing with some of the stitching opening up towards the tip. Two of the throat rivet heads are missing. Good basefor a restoration.
