German WWI-WWII, Luftwaffe General Carl August v.Gablonz Memorial Archive, 38 Photos
Item #60136 : Original era photography. Assembled in 1942 from earlier photo images, concerning the WWI service of then, Leutnant Carl August von Gablonz, late of the Kaiser Alexander Garde Grenadier Regiment. Who, because of a leg wound while serving at the Front, became a pilot, flying a bomber until the end of the war. Postwar service with Lufthansa, and at the outbreak of war in 1939, became commander of the Luftwaffe Transport Fleet, and promoted to Luftwaffe General in 1941. He was killed in an air crash on 21 August 1942, while riding as a passenger in a French Siebel Si 204. The 38 photos included in the archive concern his WWI service, with photos of him in flying gear, and while standing with his observer in front of a LVG aircraft, both dated 1915. The Richthofen photo is smaller in size than the others photos, and is a trio, with the Rittmeister standing at center. Good basis for further research. All images have been glued to the paper backing.
