Item #65896 : Original era photography. Lot of 8, 7x9 press release photographs, taken July 23rd 1933 of the plane wreck of the "Flying Britons" Amy & Jim Mollison when the crashed at Bridgeport Connecticut. They were just a few miles short of their final destination, Floyd Bennet Airport NYC, during their Trans-Atlantic flight from the UK. Amy Johnson was on a par with Amelia Earhart in those days, setting and breaking a number of solo long distance flights as a woman. She died in 1941 when she bailed out of a stricken Air Transport Auxiliary aircraft she was piloting into the Thames estuary, her body was never found.
