US Civil War Reproduction Federal Infantry Officers Coat
Item #66108 : Current era manufacture. This is a Jarnigan reproduction purchased by me in the early 1980's and was often worn at local living history events here in Arizona. Originally made as a frock coat, I had it cut down and converted into a jacket around 1988. All wool construction with a brown cotton body lining and white cotton sleeve lining, one interior pocket. As I remember I replaced the reproduction coat buttons with originals, and installed a pair of post WWII Infantry Captain shoulder straps for rank. The cuffs are secured with three buttons each and can be unbuttoned, I don't remember if those were replaced with originals or not, however they have a nice patina to them. No moth issues to report, several of the coat buttons are held in place with safety pins as I am too lazy to resew them. I haven't worn this in a number of years so it has shrunk a bit while in the closet, now it is about a size 40 in the sleeves and shoulders and about a 38 in the body. This is a good quality coat and it served me well for many years.
