US WWI Era USMC Enlisted Dress Coat & Trousers, Identified
Item #65542 : Original era manufacture. Dark blue wool USMC enlisted dress coat, size marked 1-M, date of 1917-1918 in the shoulder. The name E.A.BAIRD is stenciled in white paint on the lining. On each collar is a USMC enlisted pattern brass EGA emblem, and on each sleeve is the crossed rifle rank insignia of a PFC. Unadorned blue wool issue trousers which are USMC depot marked and dated 1921-22. The name E.A.BAIRD is stenciled onto the waistband. There are a few spots of mothing, mostly on the trousers, with an eraser size hole on the right leg, otherwise very clean. Silver Marksmanship badge on the left chest. Ancestry provides copies of muster rolls for Earl A. Baird, who served from September 1920, until July 1922, with overseas duty at Marine Barracks, Naval Station Guam, December 1920-October 1921.
