Item #62605 : Original era manufacture, Typical WWI production M1916 dismounted pistol holster for the US M1911 .45 automatic pistol. Unit marked on the top of the flap, D.11.F.A., for Battery D, 11th Field Artillery. During WWI, this regiment served with the AEF in France after being formed in Arizona in September of 1917. It's Battery E was given the honor of firing the last artillery round of WWI when a 155mm Field Gun named "Calamity Jane" fired a round at 1100 hours, 11 November 1918. The holster is in sound condition for it's age and service use, unbroken stitching, faint 1918 date on the reverse, pliable leather and no tears around the 1910 belt hook.
