Item #63517 : Original era manufacture. An early production Ka-Bar pattern USMC utility knife made by KaBar Olean N.Y. on one side of the blade and USN on the other. Bright finish blade which shows sharpening and use but retains it's proper configuration, no real corrosion issues. The steel finish guard is bent slightly backwards in order to tighten up the stacked leather grip, a common practice during the war. The stacked leather grip is in sound condition, no broken segments but I believe the first segment above the guard is missing. Thick steel pommel with a round tang. Sound russet leather scabbard of sewn and stapled construction with an intact pommel strap, initials RWS written in ink on the reverse. A solid service used WWII knife.
