Original era manufacture. Wooden resin filled body which shows several patent marks and makers initials H.R.E.41 on its reverse. Original canvas suspension with an unmarked gray painted steel snaphook. The harness shows a stitch repair where the securing buckle is sewn to the main harness and the small leather strap which goes around the neck of the canteen neck may also be a replacement. Light weight black plastic jigger-style cup may be postwar.
