This is the first Australian Military dresses we have had. The tag inside says size 13 but there is an original tag sewn in the pocket that says size 22, chest 38, waist 30 Height 5-6. My measurements show a waist to be more of a size 26. It is 46 inches long. Belt is intact including the buckle. All buttons are present and each say Australian Military Forces. I don't think this dress was ever worn. It displays storage wear in the form of light spotting. The tag is dated 1943. The Australian Women's Army Service (AWAS was established in 1941 to relase men from certain military duties for service with fighting units. By 1942 12,000 recruits had been enlisted and trained.
