Original era photography. A leather bound rectangular album, containing a total of 78 period CDV images, of which, 49 of them are of Austrian Army officers. The remainder are civilians, with several of buildings and statuary of the era included. Many of the officers are shown posing with swords, some with their overcoats rakishly draped about their shoulders. This time period was a busy time for the Austro-Hungarian Army, the War in Italy 1860, the War with Prussia in 1866, and Maximilian's adventure to Mexico 1862-67. One of the images is of an officer showing the effects of his wounding during service; his right arm in a sling with his withered hand covered in black, and supporting himself on a cane with his left hand. Selling the images singly, the military images would retail for a minimum of $15-35 each, that is nearly a thousand dollars in value, but doing so would destroy the historical record that this album represents. This album is presented to you as it was purchased by us, no images have been removed, although empty slots do appear on some of the pages. The front cover is loose from the binding, the photos are clear with good detail, some are identified, many with photographers backmarks.
