Original era manufacture. Interesting Civil War era socket bayonet with perhaps dual uses. The metal surface looks to have a nickel finish, showing age but no heavy corrosion. Small brass ball attached to the tip indicates perhaps a fencing model, or, use as a mounting point for a small flag or pennant, as used by general guides in Infantry companies. Normal age and wear.
