Original era manufacture. 25.5 inch polished steel, curved blade sword. Well marked on the ricasso and dated 1859. Simple steel guard with a wrapped leather grip. Amazingly sound brown leather covered scabbard with metal tip. Light scuffing to the leather surfaces. This old weapon likely saw a great deal of service use, being extant for the Italian Campaign against Napoleon III in 1860 and the disastrous war with Prussia in 1866. I like this old guy.
