Original era manufacture. Heavy steel construction with a 35 inch polished steel blade with a deep fuller on each side. No real issues to report with the sword, nice surface patina, a few very small nail catchers in the edge. There is a very slight bend to the blade about 8 inches back from the point. There is a date of 1849 on the obverse ricasso and a makers name (I believe Burman) on the reverse. Heavy steel guard which is pierced with 7 circular holes and is also dated 1849. Leather covered wooden grip without wire binding, some of the leather covering has worn away exposing the wood beneath. Very dark surface corrosion finish to the guard, backstrap and pommel. Heavy, dark steel scabbard with two carrying rings, with some denting on one side near the tip. The drag shows wear, just letting us know that this old soldier has seen service.
