Original era manufacture. Gray finished, stamp steel cap insignia, as worn on the field caps of the Austrian army in WWI. It bears the letter FJI, for emperor Franz Joseph 1st, who died in 1916.Both mounting pins are intact, and as they are not bent, the badge was likely never placed on a hat. Corrosion on the badge as shown
