Original era manufacture. An original, WWI Austrian helmet which has been reissued as a German Army steel helmet, size marked 64 on the neckskirt. The helmet exterior displays a considerable amount of a dark over paint finish, with the lighter, original paint visible beneath. Original decals as shown, with the tri-color being over-painted per regulations in 1940; thankfully no one has attempted to remove this over paint during the last 70 plus years, as has been done to many similar examples. The liner is sound, slightly stiffened from age, all fingers are intact, drawstring is intact, the rear seam has separated. The aluminum liner band looks to be dated either 1938 or 1939, and size marked 57. The chinstrap is a recent, postwar manufactured addition. Decent quality but not original.
