US Pre WWII Army Airmail Pilot Grouping,
Item #53254 : Original era manufacture. A nice little group pertaining to the service of Clyde P. Branderberger (sometimes spelled Brandenburger), who served in the Army Air Corps in the 1930's and flew as an Airmail Pilot. The lot includes his Flying Helmet, two officer quality overseas hats, one light OD, the other a "pink" color, each with a gold wire winged prop directly embroidered into the fabric, US Air Corps U.S.Army Rating Certificate (photo missing), however the rating card shows him qualified to handle mail for the US Government. A selection of newspaper clippings of the era, several having his photograph, and lastly two gold imprinted leather names strips for a flight jacket; these appear to be of newer manufacture. Ancestry shows a Clyde P. Brandenberger 1909-1983, as being a resident of Los Angeles. The leather helmet is complete and sound, the overseas hats display moth damage, and the interior of the rating certificate is missing his photo, with damage to the clear plastic covers.
