Original era manufacture. Very similar in design to the M1866 French Chassepot bayonet, but with a more rounded pommel, and threaded screw securing the lock spring instead of a rivet.The polished steel blade measures 22.5 inches in length, is clean, with scattered age staining along its length. Belgian proofs on the ricasso. Steel patina guard with serial number, ribbed brass grip with lock spring.Chassepot style sheet steel scabbard with a dark steel patina finish.
