Original era manufacture. Steel fittings throughout, with a black leather bodied scabbard. The plain steel blade measures 32 inches in length, with an even steel patina finish. The blade runs straight and true with no nicks in the cutting edge. On the obverse ricasso is stamped crown BR 21, and on the reverse, a simple crown proof. Original leather bumper is intact. Dark steel patina basket guard and pommel, with the Light Infantry emblem forming part of the decoration. Shagreen wrapped grip which is bound with triple strand brass wire. The leather scabbard body is rigid, adorned with steel fittings, including two suspension rings. The leather is unbroken, with a weak spot caused by a crease between the lower suspension fitting and chape. An honest old sword in solid shape.
