Original era manufacture. Polished steel yataghan blade bayonet measuring 23 inches in length. Even steel patina finish at this point, with a light peppering of old cleaned corrosion. Steel patina finish to the guard and pommel with a working lock button and a short slot for the bayonet stud, 20 mm muzzle opening.Pressed leather grips in good repair, secured with steel rivets, three on one side, four on the other.Sound black leather bodied scabbard with no stitching issues, steel throat and chape. The lower staple holding the chape in position is missing.There is an old collector tag on the scabbard throat identifying this bayonet as a Witworth bayonet, Rare.
