Original era manufacture. Standardissue Bronze Khedive Star, presented by the Ottoman Empire for service in quelling the Urabi rebellion in Egypt in July-September 1882. These were unnamed when presented, however many regiments, or the individuals themselves, would have them privately impressed orengraved after receiving them. This example is lightly engraved on the reverse rim, Tpr Loveland, 1st L.G. Several squadronsof the 1st & 2nd Lifeguard regiments, and Horse Guards, provided nearly 500 men to form a composite regiment of the Household Cavalry for service in Egypt. This was to be their first overseas deployment since the Battle of Waterloo, and the last time to wear in battle their red (or in the case of the Horse Guards blue) tunics. They saw a fair amount of combat during this campaign to include the famous Moonlight Charge at the battle of Kassasin on 28 August 1882. Tattered original looking blue ribbon, dark bronze patina finish to the star with traces of its original dark burnished finish remaining. With research.
