Original era manufacture. Polished steel blade measures 33 inches in length with etched panels on each side. Proofed on the ricasso with the number 7060 stamped into the base of the spine. The blade runs fairly straight and true with a slight drift to the right about 4 inches back from the point. Overall clean, with a few nail catchers in the edge, and a bright finish. Steel basket guard with the royal cypher of King Edward VIII who famously abdicated the throne for his divorcee American wife Wallis Simpson in 1936, ruling as king for less than one year. Black fish skin grip bound with triple strand wire, and an original pigskin leather sword knot wrapped around the base of the guard. Leather covered wooden bodied scabbard in sound condition.
