Original era manufacture. Mid to late 19th century large pattern Bowie style knife made by the firm of Brookes & Crookes in Sheffield England. The classic Bowie style blade measures 10.5 inches in length, with original polish, and clear makers name on the reverse ricasso. The blade is quite clean, no issues beyond minor staining from age, no corrosion.Simple nickel alloy S-guard in good repair. I believe that the ferrule, grip and cutlery style pommel cap are more modern replacements, likely mid to late 20th century, but the blade itself is old. This massive knife comes with a well made all leather sheath, made by McClintock Saddlery in Descanso California, itself likely dating back to the 1980's.The knife is a little over the top for some tastes, but fits the bill nicely with Crocodile Dundee's famous sobriquet, "Now That's A Knife!"
