Original period photography. A wonderful, large format photograph with a sepia finish. The subject matter concerns the regimental officers of the Cameron Highlanders while stationed at Gibraltar in 1881.The two senior officers at front row center, are both veterans of the Crimea and other campaigns.Many of the officers are shown in highland dress, with several holding their regimental claymore swords in hand. The mat measures 13 x 10 inches, the image about 8 x 5 inches. One of the mat corners has been creased, and there is a smear over the photographers name in the lower right corner.
