Original era manufacture. British Queen's South Africa 1899 - 1902 medal with 3 clasps. Wittebergen, Transvaal, and Cape Colony. Named on the edge to 1288 PTE A. J. Cross, Scots Gds. His service record is available online, he was 19 years old when he attested for the army in 1897. He stood 5 feet 9 3/4 inches in height, weighing 141 pounds. He deserted from May 1898 to January 1899, with a Court Martial following his rejoining the regiment. Stoppage of pay, and removal of days from his service record. These lost days were later restored to him. Nice old silver patina to the medal and clasps.
