Original period manufacture. Private purchase, silver proofed identity disc, with a nicely engraved rendition of the Royal Flying Corps wing on the obverse. Engraved below is J.A. Longley, Vancouver B.C.. On the reverse can be seen several silver proofs along with a period inscription, "To Gracie with Love, Aug. 4th 1918". James Alfred Longley was born in 1899, and was 18 years, 7 months old when he attested for the Royal Flying Corps in Canada, as an Aviator Cadet, 5 October 1917. He received his Great Britain Royal Aero Club Aviators Certificate, as a 2nd Lieutenant in the R.A.F. on 7 June 1918. I couldn't find too much else on him, but this should be a good basis for further research. A very nice quality disc, measuring 40 mm in length.
