Original era photography. A wonderful mid-19th century Cartes des Visite of Sergeant Joseph Munday, late of the 7th Hussars. A Battle of Waterloo veteran, who later operated a hotel and small museum near the battlefield, while conducting tours for the many visitors who traveled there. In 1867 he and his second wife Martha and their family emigrated to America, settling in Iowa. Sergeant Munday died in 1870, and is buried in Castek Cemetery, Johnson County Iowa. Sergeant Munday is shown wearing a peaked hat, coat, and a plaid vest. On his chest he proudly wears his Waterloo medal. Period inscription on the reverse dated 1866.
