Original era photography. A very dark image, of a young British officer circa the Crimean War era. The image measures 1.5x2 inches within its oval mat, and 2x2.5 inches overall.The subject was taken seated, with his hands clasped in front of him. The tunic he is wearing has been heavily toned with red paint, gilt buttons, and gilt shoulder knots. Original leather covered wooden case which has warped a bit over time. The locking clasp is present, however the thin leather hinge has broken.
