Original period manufacture. A beautiful condition 120 year old line officers dress coat of a Captain in the Manchester Regiment. Full complement of regimental buttons, gold wire bullion collar emblems, gold wire shoulder knots with three stars and a silver T (Territorials). White wool collar and cuffs, with officer gold brocade lace and embroidery. Quilted white silk body lining, with white wool lined skirts, and a maroon morrocan leather half belt. Tailors tag in the black sllk lined collar, named to R.Lees Esq., dated 5/7/05. Minimal mothing, mostly seen on the inner skirts. Seams are tight, colors remain vibrant. Doing a quick look online, I found reference to Captain Ralph Lees, Manchester regiment, temporarily assigned in July 1915, along with two NCO's and six men, to assist in equipping recruits prior to their departure to France. Good potential for further research. Size about a 38.
