Original era manufacture. Standard issue Bronze Khedive Star, presented by the Ottoman Empire for service in quelling the Urabi rebellion in Egypt in July-September 1882. These were unnamed when presented, however many regiments, or the individuals themselves, would have them privately impressed or engraved after receiving them. This example is lightly engraved on the reverse, 1st BKS, 1970, WT. After doing some online research, the soldier is identified as Private William Tucker, 1970, 1st Battalion Berkshire Regiment. Tucker served in the Egypt Campaign of 1882 and received the Queen's medal for same, however without the Tel El-Kebir clasp.Later, Tucker and his regiment were posted to the Sudanese Port city of Suakin in 1885. While there, Tucker fought in the Battle of Tofrek, on March 22 of that year. It was during this battle, that the Berkshire Regiment received the Royal honorific from Queen Victoria for their valor in repelling the attacks of Osman Digna's Ansars. With research, and copies of the medal rolls showing Tucker qualifying for the Suakin 1885 and Tofrek clasp.
