Original era manufacture. Silver, 1882 dated reverse, Egypt medal with clasp for Tel El-Kebir. Named on the edge to 14821. GUNr C. HALL. H/1st Bde. RA.. The disc displays a pleasing silver patina, with near zero pitting to the surface, usually found with Egypt medals, caused by the arms of the Bronze Khedive Star, banging against them for many years. The medal is complete with its original ribbon.Charles Hall attested for the Royal Artillery in 1868 when he was 17 years old, he served with the RA, until he died at Portobello Barracks, Dublin Ireland, in January 1886. He served overseas from September 1869, till 24 December 1883. In addition to his Egypt Medal, he earned the bronze Khedive Star, and for service in Afghanistan, The Afghan Campaign Medal. His service records note several times being convicted by Court Martial due to insubordination and drunkenness. During the Battle of Tel El-Kebir, H-1 Battery, RA, fired 24 rounds in support of General Wolseley's attack on the Egyptian position.
