Original era manufacture. A recent purchase from an old collection is this Royal Navy white cotton officers coat, which has the name A.J. Monk written in black indelible ink on the inside of the collar. On the shoulders are a beautiful pair of Royal Navy, King's Crown, Rear Admiral shoulder boards by Gieves Limited and pinned to the chest is a 10 place ribbon bar which includes the American Legion of Merit Officer Class at the bottom row right. The other 9 ribbons represent honors and campaign ribbons from the 1930's up to the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953. Doing a bit of research, I found a listing for an Anthony John Monk, born in 1923 and died in 2010, he did serve in the Royal Navy as an Engineering Officer during WWII, and who became a Rear Admiral in the Royal Navy during the reign of Queen Elizabeth. I have been able to find very little else on him, but can say that he was awarded the CBE during his service. It is my opinion that the shoulder boards and ribbon bar were added to this coat to complete it. The boards are of wonderful quality and are quite valuable in their own right, while the ribbon bar is equally impressive. Good research project.
