Original era manufacture. This massive metal canister I mistook for a trench stove, while digging through the dark garage it was living in. Nope, a large steel container used to transport the dress bearskin of a member of the Scots Guards. It stands 20 inches in height, with a brass plaque mounted on the center band, upon which the name E. Shelley Esq. Scots Guards is engraved.Steel patina finish, none of the original japanning remains on the exterior but some does remain on the inside. This is a heavier item and will weigh 10 pounds in the box with packing.
