Original era manufacture. A very dark steelpatina finish bayonet with a 17 inch blade, and overall just under 22 inches.The muzzle opening measures 27 mm with the socket shank having an overall length of 4 inches. At the base of the flat bladethe makers name is partially visible, Oughton, with a crown proof above, and several other markings just above the base of the blade.John Oughton 1797, Smallbrook St. Birmingham, J&C Oughton by 1802-1815.There is scattered surface pitting to the blade, however the surface loss is minimal.
