Original era manufacture. First introduced during the wars with Napoleon in 1805 to fit the Baker pattern rifle. Modified in 1825 with the deletion of the brass guard and large langets which protruded from the guard. Few markings are visible on this old guy, 3 digit property numbers on the pommel and an indecipherable mark on the blade spine near the guard. The tip has been blunted indicating its post service use by a school or academy. No deep pitting to the blade surface, few spots of surface corrosion and overall graying. Lock mechanisim appears to work properly.
