Original era manufacture. An interesting bayonet, featuring an 1888 pattern blade, with the newly introduced 1903 pattern hilt. Numerous markings on both sides of the ricasso, including the name of Sanderson-Sheffield, the likely manufacturer. The blade is clean, the point very slightly rounded, with the surface exhibiting typical toning and staining from age, no real corrosion issues. Dark wood grips, exhibiting considerable wear, particularly on the reverse side. Numerous markings on the pommel, to include the letters R.N., Royal Navy? No scabbard.
