Original period manufacture. Standard E-Tool as issued to the British Tommy and other Commonwealth Troops during WWII. 1947 dated tan canvas carrying case and 1944 dated handle. The cast steel blade has what looks to be a date of 1916. These three components pretty much cover British military activity for the early to mid part of the 20th Century. Shows light wear and use, socket on the end of the handle to accept a spike bayonet as a landmine probe.
