British, Pre WW1 P1907 Hooked Guard Bayonet, J.A.C. Australian Issue
Item #69547 : Original period manufacture. A nice example of a scarce early pattern of the British 1907 model bayonet. Produced by J.A.Chapman in December 1909 (12'09), retaining the early hooked guard. It also displays markings of Australian purchase, SA 917 on the obverse pommel, and on the scabbard throat, 2MD91417 (2nd Military District). Darkened steel patina on the pommel, guard and blade, showing evidence of cleaned light surface corrosion. Black leather bodied scabbard with an old oiled finish, blue steel chape and throat. The scabbard stud is pushed in as shown.
