Original era manufacture. Four tail feather bonnet, with a red-white-black diced wool band, and a silver alloy 42nd Highland bonnet badge on the left side.The ostrich feather top is stretched over a metal framework which bearsagilt printed label ofHobson& Sons, Manufacturers, 1,2,3,4, Lexington Street London. An address apparently used by the firm prior to the turn of the 20th Century.Brown leather sweatband which shows tearing on the lower edge on one side, and a black cotton partial lining. Intact original patent leather chinstrap which is unbroken.Comes with a print-out of the history ofHobson & Sons, who have been in the trade since 1850. The red hackle shown in one of the photographs needs to be re-discovered here in our little warehouse. Sound overall, displaying light wear and use.
