Original era manufacture. Scarlet wool dress coat as worn by a 1st Lieutenant in the King's Shropshire Light Infantry prior to WWI. The coat is complete with all insignia and buttons, with a white silk lining to the body. In the collar is a tailor's label with a handwritten name in ink, A.L. Johnston. There is some scattered mothing to the body of the coat, and wear to the body lining, but overall it presents very nicely, and is bright and clean looking. Size about a 36. Alec Leith Johnston was born in 1889, and was killed in action on the 22nd of April 1916, when shot through the heart by a German Sniper. A large file of research accompanies the coat including a photo of his grave stone in Essex Farm Cemetery in Belgium.
