Original era manufacture. A very fine, scarlet, doeskin wool doublet, with matching material black wool cuffs. Full complement of original buttons, with gold wire shoulder knots displaying a rank for 2nd Lieutenant.Black wool color with gold lace trim, and deluxe silver wire bursting bomb, set with a silver thistle and wreath. The body and sleeves of the doublet are lined with white silk, with the chest area have a quilted design. Jones and Company embroidered label in the collar, and in the chest pocket is another Jones Co. tag, with the name of the owner written in ink. What I can easily make out is his rank, 2nd/Lt, and his last name Pollack. Below is written in ink the date, 28-3-11.The doublet is bright and clean looking, with little evidence of wear. it does have some issues caused just through age and time. There is some minor, scattered mothing to the wool fabric, nothing terrible or detracting, just what would be expected in a garment of this age.The seam under the right armpit has opened up and needs to be resewn. The gold brocade trim on the collar is coming loose, as is the bottom of the collar itself, and needs to be tacked down, also the black silk lining of the collar also needs attention. All in all, nothing that is not repairable, and nothing a complicated garment like this does not usually have going on after more than a 100 years.Excellent potential research as the doublet is named.
