Original era manufacture. British 1821 pattern Artillery sword with a leather covered sheath, Gaunt retailers name on the ricasso, J.R. Gaunt & Sons Limited, Late Edward Thurkle, 53 Conduit Street. London.W.. Serial numbered on the blade spine 12463. Named on the edge to G.(maybe C) R. M. Stanbury Taylor, with a unit marking in an additional line below. The polished steel blade measures 35 inches in length, with etched and frosted panels along it's length, and a cypher for Edward VII. The blade runs straight and true with no issues beyond normal age and wear. Steel guard, back strap and pommel, with a shagreen wrapped grip, bound with triple strand wire. Very sound brown leather covered scabbard with an integral suspension frog and securing straps. A very nice example with excellent possibilities for further research.
