Original era manufacture. A 28 inch bamboo rod, capped with a nickel finished finial displaying the King's crown, and regimental insignia of the 24th Regiment of Foot, South Wales Borderers.The 24th gained everlasting fame during the Zulu Campaign of 1879, where the 1st Battalion was nearly annihilated at Isandlwana in January 1879, and for the amazing defense and victory at Rorke's Drift that same month.
