Original era manufacture. An early 19th century bandsman's sword featuring a two-piece cast brass grip, with a lionhead pommel and loop for a sword knot. The polished steel blade measures 20 inches in length with a central fuller on each side, double edged, and is quite sharp. Simple black leather scabbard with a painte finish, four inch long steel carrying stud. The scabbard is rather crude in execution, and may have been a replacement done in one of Britain's many overseas stations back in the day. A sword old sword showing normal age and wear. See page 171, World Swords 1400-1945, by Harvey Withers for a near identical example with a different scabbard.
