Original era manufacture. Scottish pattern doublet of red wool with faded yellow cuffs and collar. Metal insignia with metal backing plates throughout except for the single gold brocade Sgt's chevron on the right sleeve. QSA & KSA ribbons pinned to the front of the tunic. Complete enlisted pattern HLI shako which is war department proofed and dated 1908. King's crown HLI badge on the shako's front. White buff leather belt with a HLI rectangular belt plate. Names are written on the inside of the tunic and belt with an old paper tag attached to the right epaualette button stating the owner to be a Sergeant Murphy. Maybe, it will provide some fun for research. The markings on the reverse of the belt have been enhanced in my opinion, but the belt is original regardless. The shako is great, clear London makers tag with the 1908 date stamped in white ink. It is complete with all of its original insignia and cords, even it's thin leather chinstrap is present. The visor is soundly stitched, only issue is a touch of dryness to the leather edging of the shako body. A great looking old set which would be a terrific display centerpiece.
