Original era manufacture. Silver medal awarded to 3871 Pte W. Rice, Royal Warwickshire Regiment who served at the battle of Omdurman, where the Ansars of Khalifa Abdullah al-Taashi were utterly destroyed, by a combined force of British, Egyptian and Sudanese troops. Winston Churchill took part in this battle while serving with the 21st Lancers. Private Rice continued to serve in the army, seeing action during the 2nd Boer War, earning the clasps for Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast, Cape Colony & Orange Free State.
